Snowmass Village's Heritage Fire Canceled Due to Fire Restrictions Impacting Live-Fire Cooking
The Heritage Fire event in Snowmass Village, known for its live-fire cooking, has been canceled due to ongoing Stage 2 fire restrictions in the Roaring Fork Valley. These restrictions, in place since June, prohibit open flames except in designated areas, making it impossible to hold the event as planned. The event, which was scheduled for August 1, has been a staple for the past decade, bringing together chefs, family farms, and local residents to celebrate live-fire cooking. Organizers considered using propane instead, but the idea did not gain traction among chefs who preferred the traditional open flame method. Other events in Snowmass Village, such as the Snowmass Balloon Festival, are still scheduled to proceed, although they may also be affected by fire conditions.
