Prolonged Humidity and Heat Affect Northeast U.S., Relief Expected Soon
The Northeast U.S. is experiencing unusually high humidity levels, making the region feel similar to Florida. This weather pattern is due to a high-pressure system off the East Coast, funneling moist air northward. Temperatures are reaching the 90s, with heat indices making it feel like 100 to 105 degrees. Heat advisories are in effect, and scattered thunderstorms are expected, which may provide temporary relief. The oppressive humidity is expected to persist in the southern Mid-Atlantic until mid-August.
