Severe Storms Cause Damage at Rivian's Normal Plant in Illinois
Severe weather struck Central Illinois, impacting Rivian's Normal plant. The storm, which included wind gusts up to 85 mph, caused a section of the roof to collapse on Building 2, a newer addition associated with the R2 assembly. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the damage appears to be limited to a receiving area with semitrailer truck stalls. Photos shared on social media by Mario Raushel and the McLean County EMA reveal both interior and exterior damage. Rivian is currently assessing the full extent of the damage, which remains unclear at this time. The plant is located in an area that experienced significant weather-related disruptions, including snapped power poles.
