U.S. Faces Competition in Mosquito-Laser Technology from China
A Chinese company, Photon Matrix Lab, has developed a mosquito-killing laser technology, sparking interest and competition in the field of pest control. The device uses a laser to target and eliminate mosquitoes mid-flight, a concept originally proposed by American inventor Lowell Wood. Despite the U.S. origins of the technology, China is advancing rapidly, with significant preorders for the device. The mosquito problem is exacerbated by the spread of the Asian Tiger mosquito, which has expanded its range across the U.S. since the 1980s. The technology aims to address the global issue of mosquito-borne diseases, which are a major health threat worldwide.
