RCS Encryption Set to Enhance Security Between iPhones and Android
Google and Apple are set to roll out end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging between iPhones and Android devices. This development follows initial testing as part of iOS 26.4 beta builds, with the full rollout expected with the iOS 26.5 update. The update will enable E2EE RCS messaging through supported carriers, although the rollout may take time due to varying carrier support. RCS has been largely successful, improving group chats, media sharing, and reactions between the two platforms. However, issues remain, particularly with VPNs like NordVPN affecting RCS functionality.
