U.S. Senate Hearing Investigates Alleged CAIR and Muslim Brotherhood Ties to EPIC City
A U.S. Senate Judiciary subcommittee, chaired by Sen. Ted Cruz, recently held a hearing to examine alleged connections between the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Muslim Brotherhood, and the proposed EPIC City development in North Texas. The hearing, titled 'Hidden in Plain Sight: Confronting the Muslim Brotherhood Network in America,' focused on claims that EPIC City, a project by the East Plano Islamic Center, is an Islamic enclave exclusive to Muslims. Witnesses, including Arielle F. Klepach from the National Jewish Advocacy Center, testified about the project's similarities to 'mega-mosque' developments in Europe, which are seen as efforts to separate Muslim communities from secular society. The hearing also revisited CAIR's past as an unindicted co-conspirator in a 2008 terrorism financing case involving the Holy Land Foundation.
