Malaysia's E Sector Thrives Amid Global Supply Chain Shifts
Malaysia's electrical and electronics (E&E) sector has emerged as a key beneficiary of the global supply chain restructuring, driven by the escalation of U.S. tariffs in April 2025. According to UOB Global Economics & Markets Research, the decoupling between the United States and China has accelerated the diversion of Chinese exports to alternative markets, particularly in Asia. Malaysia's E&E industry has become an increasingly important export driver, accounting for 48.2% of the country's total exports in the first half of 2026. The sector's growth is supported by rising exports, expanding participation in AI-related supply chains, and increased Chinese investment inflows.
