Inspiration Museum in Honolulu Revitalizes Historic Building to Celebrate Hawaiian Achievements
The Inspiration Museum, located in a century-old Spanish Colonial building in downtown Honolulu, is being transformed into a space dedicated to celebrating the achievements of notable individuals from Hawai'i. The museum, developed by Gloria Borland, aims to highlight the contributions of Hawai'i residents who have made significant impacts globally, such as President Barack Obama, U.S. Rep. Patsy Mink, and entertainer Bruno Mars. The building, formerly the Hawaiian Electric Co. headquarters, is part of the Hawai'i Capital Historic District and features elegant architectural details, including a vaulted, painted ceiling by artist Julian Garnsey. The museum, which is currently open for special events, plans to open to the public once adequate staffing is secured.
