USDA Extends Emergency Loans to Montana Counties Following Severe Winter Storms
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced the extension of emergency credit to producers in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming following a Presidential disaster declaration. This declaration was made in response to severe winter storms and straight-line winds that occurred on December 17-18, 2025. The emergency loans are intended to assist producers in recovering from natural disasters by replacing essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganizing farming operations, or refinancing certain debts. The FSA will evaluate loan applications based on the extent of losses, available security, and repayment ability. The application deadline for these loans is December 7, 2026.
