New Financing Opportunities for African Infrastructure Projects
The Africa50 General Shareholders’ Meeting and Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam highlighted new financing opportunities for infrastructure projects in Africa. The forum brought together leaders, investors, and development finance institutions to address the continent's infrastructure financing gap, estimated at tens of billions of dollars annually. Tanzania, a shareholder of Africa50, is leveraging the platform to attract long-term investment in sectors like energy, transport, and healthcare. The forum resulted in agreements covering electricity transmission, healthcare expansion, and natural gas distribution, marking a shift from identifying challenges to developing financing mechanisms.
