Urban League of Rochester President and CEO Dr. Seanelle Hawkins Discusses Strategic Shifts and DEI Challenges
Dr. Seanelle Hawkins, President and CEO of the Urban League of Rochester, discussed the organization's strategic shifts and anticipated challenges in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for 2025. In 2024, the Urban League of Rochester addressed the challenge of meeting growing community needs by conducting a strategic evaluation of its strengths and those of its partners. This led to the decision to shift certain programs to other organizations better equipped to provide them, thereby strengthening the overall support system and allowing the Urban League to focus on its core competencies. Dr. Hawkins anticipates significant shifts and potential reversals in DEI progress in 2025 but reaffirms the organization's commitment to centering equity in all its work.
