Kentucky Opens $53 Million Veterans Nursing Home in Bowling Green
Kentucky has officially opened a new $53 million veterans nursing home in Bowling Green, significantly expanding access to skilled nursing care for veterans in the state. The facility, named the Robert E. Spiller Bowling Green Veterans Center, is an 80,000-square-foot complex featuring 60 private resident suites, shared living and dining areas, and dedicated spaces for physical therapy and recreation. This center marks Kentucky's fifth state-run skilled nursing facility specifically for veterans. Governor Andy Beshear, speaking at the dedication ceremony, emphasized that the center represents Kentucky's enduring commitment to its service members. The facility is situated on 25 donated acres at the Kentucky Transpark in Warren County and adheres to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' small-house design model, which prioritizes community living environments and resident independence.
