Crawford Nickel Project Gains Federal Approval, Alberta Approves Coal Mine Expansion
Canada Nickel's Crawford nickel project in Ontario has received federal approval, moving closer to construction. The project aims to produce 1.6 million tonnes of nickel over 41 years. Meanwhile, Rio Tinto has begun filling pits at the Diavik diamond mine in the Northwest Territories, and Alberta has approved the expansion of the Vista coal mine without a public hearing. The expansion will increase the mine's footprint and production capacity, raising environmental concerns among conservation groups.
