Hobart Approves Amazon Data Centers Amid Public Opposition and Arrest
The Hobart Plan Commission approved two site plans for Amazon Web Services data centers, despite significant public opposition. The meeting, which lasted over four hours, was marked by tight security and the arrest of one individual. Residents expressed concerns about the impact of the data centers on their community, citing issues such as noise, traffic, and environmental effects. Despite these concerns, the commission unanimously approved the plans, which include the construction of multiple data centers across two sites. The decision is final, but further approvals are needed for rezoning and final plat approval.
