Ad Fraud Network Exploits TV Streaming Sticks for Revenue
Security researchers have uncovered a large-scale ad fraud network using generic TV streaming sticks to generate fake ad clicks. These devices, often marketed as offering unlimited streaming for a one-time fee, are found to be part of a scheme that spoofs them as mobile phones to click on ads on AI-generated websites. The operation, linked to the Fengwo Group, involves using these devices to relay residential proxy traffic and participate in ad fraud. The network is estimated to generate close to $50,000 daily. The devices also pose security risks by renting out users' internet connections to anonymous customers, including cybercriminals.
