Miami Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening Rubio and Noem with Execution
A Miami resident, Jon Christopher Enriquez, has pleaded guilty to making online threats against State Secretary Marco Rubio and Department of State Special Envoy Kristi Noem. The U.S. Department of Justice reported that Enriquez, aged 47, admitted to three counts of transmitting threats through interstate communications. On May 27, Enriquez used the social media platform X to post multiple threats, including statements that both officials would be executed. The indictment highlighted specific posts where Enriquez accused Rubio and Noem of seditious conspiracy and threatened their execution. U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones emphasized that such threats are federal crimes and assured that those who attempt to intimidate public servants will be prosecuted. Enriquez faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison for each count. The case was investigated by the Diplomatic Security Service, with assistance from various law enforcement agencies.
