Former Alabama Tackle Accused of Impersonating NFL Players in $20 Million Fraud Scheme
Federal prosecutors have charged Luther Davis, a former defensive tackle at the University of Alabama, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Davis allegedly used makeup and wigs to impersonate NFL players in order to secure fraudulent loans totaling nearly $20 million. The scheme involved Davis and an accomplice, CJ Evins, who used disguises and fake driver's licenses to deceive investors. The loans were used to purchase real estate, jewelry, and cars. Both Davis and Evins have pleaded not guilty but are expected to change their pleas to guilty in an upcoming court appearance.
