Government Publishing Office Celebrates 100 Years of U.S. Passport Production
The Government Publishing Office (GPO) is marking its 100th anniversary of producing the U.S. passport. This milestone highlights the GPO's long-standing role in creating essential government documentation. The celebration also focuses on the multi-generational families working at GPO facilities in Washington D.C. and Stennis, Mississippi, who contribute to passport production. These families, including mother and son Colleen Bailey and Josh Arjune, and father and son Joe and Colin Dziedzic, share personal connections to the work. Many employees, like Brian Knight and his son Joe Knight, came to GPO from diverse backgrounds, including military service and other trades, and learned specialized bookbinding skills on the job. Their stories emphasize the pride and purpose derived from producing a document that enables millions of Americans to travel internationally.
