Kazakhstan Faces Workforce Shortage in Eight Key Economic Sectors
Kazakhstan is experiencing a significant workforce shortage in eight critical sectors, as announced by the Kazakh Science and Higher Education Minister, Sayasat Nurbek. Since 2025, the country has been analyzing labor market needs using platforms like QS and HolonIQ. The identified shortage areas include advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, clean energy, financial services, life sciences, defense, creative industries, and professional services. The government is implementing new educational platforms to address these gaps, aiming to shift from mass training to personalized, data-driven education. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to train 10,000 IT specialists and adapt to emerging hybrid professions that combine industry expertise with AI skills.
