Morocco's Tourism Sector Sees 7% Growth Amid Global Travel Challenges
Morocco's tourism industry has experienced a 7% increase in tourist arrivals during the first quarter of the year, welcoming 4.3 million visitors. This growth comes despite ongoing global travel challenges, including tensions in the Gulf region affecting air travel and costs. The Moroccan tourism ministry attributes this increase to enhanced air connectivity, diversification of source markets, and improved accommodation and entertainment options. In March alone, tourist arrivals surged by 18%, demonstrating the sector's resilience. The tourism sector's revenue reached 21.4 billion dirhams ($2.3 billion) by the end of February, marking a 22.2% year-on-year increase. The sector contributes approximately 8% to Morocco's economy, with visitor numbers now about 50% higher than pre-pandemic levels.
