Two Container Feeders Collide in East Kalimantan, Causing Damage
Two container feeders, Meratus Kolaka and Spil Ratna, collided on the Mahakam River in East Kalimantan, resulting in extensive damage above the waterline and the loss of eight containers. The incident occurred during a port-to-port passing when Spil Ratna made a turn to starboard, leading to contact with Meratus Kolaka. The collision caused significant damage to the hull plating of Meratus Kolaka and localized damage to Spil Ratna. Despite the damage, no injuries or pollution were reported. Both vessels are flagged in Indonesia and primarily operate in domestic trade.
