Rheinmetall Faces $346 Million Loss After F126 Frigate Cancellation
Germany's decision to cancel the F126 frigate program has led Rheinmetall to project a $346 million loss in its naval business sales forecast. Despite this setback, the company's overall sales for fiscal year 2026 are expected to reach between €13.7 billion and €14.2 billion, surpassing the previous year's figures. The cancellation followed a government review that found transferring the program to a new shipbuilder could cost over €18 billion. As a result, Germany plans to acquire eight MEKO frigates instead. Rheinmetall continues to expand its maritime business, unveiling a new guided-missile frigate, the GMF 140, which could be offered to North American customers.
