Bijou Phillips Hospitalized, Urgently Needs Second Kidney Transplant
Bijou Phillips, an actress and socialite, is currently hospitalized and in urgent need of a second kidney transplant. According to her representative, she is under the care of Dr. Anjay Rastogi at CORE Kidney at UCLA Health. Phillips is back on dialysis as she awaits a living donor. Her first kidney transplant, received in 2017 from a friend, has failed. Complications from the BK virus led to both cellular and antibody rejection of the transplanted kidney. Despite being in stable condition, her representative emphasizes that 'time is of the essence' for finding a new donor. Phillips was born with underdeveloped kidneys and has battled kidney disease throughout her life, spending her first three months in the NICU on dialysis.
