The Senate Judiciary Committee has postponed a vote on Todd Blanche's nomination as U.S. Attorney General due to unresolved concerns from Republican Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis. The concerns center around a controversial settlement of President Trump's lawsuit against the IRS, which Blanche oversaw as acting attorney general. The settlement included a $1.8 billion fund and provisions that shielded Trump and his associates from IRS audits for tax returns filed before the settlement. Despite a new response from the Department of Justice, the senators' concerns remain unaddressed, jeopardizing Blanche's nomination. The committee, consisting of 12 Republicans and 10 Democrats, requires a majority vote to advance Blanche's nomination to the full Senate.
