BMW-Backed Student EV Project Explores Solar Power for Energy Surplus
Clemson University, in collaboration with BMW, has developed a prototype electric vehicle (EV) called the Luminetta, which incorporates over 1,700 solar cells. This student-led project aims to explore solar power as a viable energy source for EVs. The Luminetta, designed for a 12-mile daily commute, reportedly generates more energy than it consumes, thanks to its lightweight design and solar capabilities. The project demonstrates the potential for solar energy to contribute to EV propulsion strategies.
