Riyadh Air Seeks U.S. Approval Amid Expansion Plans
Riyadh Air, a Saudi startup airline, has applied for U.S. operating authority as it prepares to launch international services. The airline, owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, aims to operate scheduled and charter flights between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. The application to the U.S. Department of Transportation is part of Riyadh Air's strategy to position itself as a global aviation hub under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. The airline has been conducting limited proving flights and plans to expand its network to include destinations like London, Paris, and Mumbai.
