Steam Forum Users Warned Against Malicious PowerShell Commands Leading to Cryptominer Infections
Steam forums have become a target for malicious actors who are posting fake solutions to gaming issues that lead to the installation of XMRig cryptominers on users' PCs. These bad actors instruct users to run PowerShell commands under the guise of fixing game-related problems. Once executed, these commands download and launch a cryptominer, bypassing security checks. This type of attack, known as ClickFix, exploits social engineering tactics to deceive users into compromising their systems.
