Water Research Foundation Advances Strategies to Tackle Climate and Contaminants
The Water Research Foundation is spearheading efforts to address pressing issues in water management, focusing on climate change, emerging contaminants, and technological advancements. According to a discussion between Bob Crossen, Vice President of Content Strategy for water and energy groups, and Peter Grevatt, CEO of the Water Research Foundation, the organization is prioritizing research that aligns with utility needs. This includes leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize infrastructure investments and maintenance. The foundation is also expanding its research portfolio with nearly 30 new projects targeting treatment technologies, nutrient reduction, and workforce development. A significant finding from their recent Residential End Uses of Water study indicates a 44% decline in per-capita residential water use in North America over the past 30 years, which is crucial for future infrastructure planning.
