Robotaxis Licensed to Operate in London with Human Drivers
Transport for London (TfL) has granted private hire licenses to a fleet of autonomous vehicles, allowing them to operate as robotaxis in the city. These vehicles, which include electric Ford Mustang Mach-Es, have been modified with advanced technology such as camera pods and radar units. However, the current license requires a qualified human driver to be present and responsible for the vehicle during operations. This development marks a significant step towards integrating autonomous vehicles into London's transportation system, with plans for public rides to begin later this year.
