Texas Mothers Challenge Law Mandating Ten Commandments in Schools
Three mothers in Texas have filed a lawsuit against Senate Bill 10, which requires public school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments. The lawsuit, filed in Harris County District Court, argues that the law violates the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the Parental Rights constitutional amendment. The mothers claim that the law imposes religious beliefs on students and infringes on parental rights to control their children's upbringing. The law has faced multiple legal challenges, with a previous case upheld by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Arlington Independent School District has stated it will not display the Ten Commandments until the legal disputes are resolved.
