Southern Oregon University Expands International Collaboration with Ghanaian Universities
Southern Oregon University (SOU) is significantly expanding its cooperative relationship with two universities in Ghana: Palm University College and Catholic University of Ghana. This initiative began with shared online communication courses earlier this year, connecting students from SOU and Palm University College. The collaboration is set to grow during the 2026-27 academic year, becoming an integral part of SOU’s Global Innovation Scholars program. This expansion will include reciprocal opportunities for community-based projects in both countries. The initial online courses, such as SOU's COMM 460F and Palm University's Communication Skills course, successfully bridged differences in student age, location, and culture, fostering curiosity and collaboration. Precious Yamaguchi, an SOU communication professor, highlighted how these differences became a catalyst for engagement.
