Tropics May Stir Near US as Hurricane Season Nears
Forecasters are tracking a possible tropical disturbance that could develop near the western Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico just days before the Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1. While a named storm is not guaranteed, the system may bring heavy rain, gusty winds, rough surf and localized flooding to parts of Florida and the southeastern US. Warm ocean waters are supporting potential development, and tropical moisture could also bring stormy conditions to Cuba, the Bahamas and Bermuda through early June.
