Houston Parent Discovers Significant Price Differences in Pre-K Supply Shopping
A Houston parent experienced a significant price shock while shopping for her son's Pre-K school supplies. The parent compared prices for the same list of items at three major retailers: Amazon, Walmart, and Target. The total cost of the supplies varied dramatically, with Amazon totaling $183.35, Walmart $86.27, and Target $141.20. The parent noted that specific items, such as a plastic school box and Crayola markers, had substantial price differences between the retailers. The rest mat, a required item for Pre-K students, also showed a wide price range, contributing to the overall cost disparity. The parent ultimately purchased a mix of supplies from Walmart and Target, spending a total of $99.59.
