WBUR Launches Inaugural $125 Million Fundraising Campaign to Bolster Public Service Journalism
WBUR, Boston's public radio station, has publicly launched its first-ever comprehensive fundraising initiative, 'The Campaign for WBUR: 90.9 Reasons to Believe.' This multi-year effort aims to raise $125 million to ensure the long-term sustainability and enhancement of its public service journalism. The campaign, named after its long-standing frequency, seeks to support independent journalism, foster innovation, and establish stable, long-term funding through its endowment and planned-giving programs. WBUR has been building momentum for this initiative over the past three years and is now entering its public phase, with a target completion date of June 2027. The funds will be allocated across four key priority areas: the WBUR Annual Fund, local journalism, innovation in media, and securing WBUR's future through endowment building.
