King Felipe VI of Spain participated in the 44th Copa del Rey de Vela Mapfre, a prestigious sailing competition held in Palma de Mallorca. The event concluded on August 8, 2026, with King Felipe achieving a notable second place aboard the Hispania. The competition featured six classes, and the king's performance was a highlight, despite his absence in the final two days due to official duties in Colombia. The event culminated in an award ceremony at the Palacio Real de la Almudaina, where King Felipe, dressed in his crew's official polo, symbolically presented a trophy to himself. This moment was shared with his mentor, Admiral Jaime Rodríguez Toubes, and the captain of the Hispania, Ricardo Maldonado, who ultimately accepted the award.
