GSPCA Celebrates 15 Years of Steve Byrne's Leadership in Animal Welfare
The Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) is celebrating the 15-year tenure of Steve Byrne as its manager. Since joining in 2011, Byrne has significantly contributed to the charity's growth and development, enhancing its services and facilities. Under his leadership, the GSPCA has expanded its volunteer base to over 800 individuals annually, who assist in various activities such as animal care, fundraising, and wildlife rescues. Byrne's initiatives include the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday, a popular community event that raises funds and awareness for animal welfare. He also established the Work 2 Benefit Scheme, providing work experience and skills to islanders. The charity has seen improvements in animal accommodation and welfare services, alongside ambitious redevelopment projects like the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal, aimed at modernizing facilities for future generations.
