Stormy Memorial Day Weekend Expected Across Eastern U.S.
AccuWeather forecasts a stormy Memorial Day weekend for much of the Eastern United States, with showers and thunderstorms expected from Texas to New England. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated in areas stretching from central and northeastern Texas through West Virginia, with widespread totals of 1 to 4 inches and localized amounts exceeding 6 inches. These conditions could disrupt outdoor events and travel plans, particularly as the American Automobile Association (AAA) predicts a record-breaking 45 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more between May 21 and May 25. Meanwhile, the Rockies and Pacific Northwest may experience intermittent showers and cooler conditions, while California and parts of the Southwest are expected to enjoy dry, sunny weather. Memorial Day, observed on the final Monday of May, honors U.S. military personnel who died in service.
