Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama has announced the allocation of $4.5 million in grants aimed at alleviating poverty and assisting low-income residents in achieving economic self-sufficiency. These funds, distributed through Community Services Block Grants, will be directed to 18 community action agencies across the state. The grants are intended to support a variety of programs tailored to local needs, including employment assistance, budgeting skills improvement, and emergency aid for essentials such as health services, food, and housing. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) is responsible for administering these grants, which are funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
