Severe Thunderstorms and Hail Expected in Chicago Area
A warm front is moving through north central and northeast Illinois, bringing the potential for severe weather, including thunderstorms, damaging winds, and large hail. According to the National Weather Service, there is an elevated risk of thunderstorms and tornadoes in several Illinois counties, including Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, and others, as well as in parts of Indiana. The storms are expected to become more widespread as low pressure moves in during the night. Current conditions at O'Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy with temperatures around 51°F (11°C), while Midway Airport reports similar conditions at 53°F (12°C). Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 50s during the day, dropping to the low 40s overnight.
