Gen X Exhibits Greater Comfort with AI Compared to Other Generations, Pew Research Center Survey Reveals
A recent Pew Research Center survey indicates that Generation X (ages 50 to 64) is the only age group in the U.S. where a majority expresses more excitement than concern regarding artificial intelligence. This contrasts sharply with other generations, particularly those under 30, where 55% are more concerned than excited about AI. Overall, 52% of Americans are now more concerned than excited about AI, a significant increase from 37% in 2021. Despite acknowledging potential downsides, such as 72% of Gen Xers believing AI will lead to fewer jobs, this generation appears to view AI more as a 'cool toy' and is less troubled by its broader societal implications compared to Millennials and Gen Z.
