Tornado Watch and Flood Alerts Issued for NYC and Tri-State Area
Severe weather conditions are impacting New York City and the Tri-State area, with a Tornado Watch in effect until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The watch covers all five boroughs of NYC, Rockland, Westchester, and Nassau counties, as well as the entirety of New Jersey. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also issued a Flood Watch for most of New Jersey and New York City. The region is experiencing a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather, with New Jersey facing a higher Level 3 risk. Earlier Tornado Warnings in New Jersey expired at 3:45 p.m., but the area remains under threat of flash flooding, damaging winds, and additional storms throughout the evening.
