China and EU Emphasize Dialogue and Cooperation to Stabilize Trade Amidst Global Uncertainty
China and the European Union have highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation to address trade uncertainties and maintain stable economic ties, according to a Chinese trade expert following recent high-level talks in Beijing. The second meeting of the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism, co-chaired by Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic, concluded with a joint statement outlining 16 areas of consensus. These areas include trade and investment balance, export controls, intellectual property rights, and World Trade Organization (WTO) reform. Both sides agreed to explore the possibility of reducing tariffs on certain goods within WTO rules and reached an understanding regarding trade in hybrid vehicles. The discussions underscored the potential for deepening economic and trade cooperation by resolving differences through negotiations and fostering a more stable and predictable environment for businesses.
