French Ministry of the Interior Adjusts Tour de France Route Due to Wildfires
The Ministry of the Interior in France has announced a change to the final stage of the Tour de France due to ongoing wildfires, particularly affecting the Gironde region. The decision involves redeploying internal security forces, initially assigned to the Tour, to assist in combating the fires and securing affected areas. As a result, the route for Stage 21 has been shortened from 133 km to 89 km. The caravan will depart from Thoiry at 1:20 p.m., with the team presentation at 3:40 p.m. The official start will occur at 5:50 p.m. from the finish line, with riders completing two additional laps of the Champs-Élysées before heading to the Montmartre circuit for a scheduled finish at 7:45 p.m. This adjustment reflects a spirit of national solidarity with the affected regions and populations.
