Search Intensifies for Missing Hiker Jason Coughran Near Lake Tahoe
A large-scale search operation is underway for Jason Coughran, a 60-year-old hiker who went missing on May 25, 2026, near Lake Tahoe. Coughran was last seen in the Desolation Wilderness area, a rugged expanse known for its challenging terrain. The search effort, involving hundreds of law enforcement officers, volunteers, and the Air National Guard, has been ongoing since his disappearance. The El Dorado Sheriff's Department has been coordinating the search, which includes aerial support from a CH-47 Chinook helicopter. Despite the extensive search, Coughran remains missing, and authorities continue to appeal for any information regarding his whereabouts.
