Oven Malfunction Causes Fire at McPherson Food Production Facility
A fire broke out at Wald Family Foods in McPherson, Kansas, due to an oven malfunction. The incident occurred late at night, prompting an evacuation of the facility. The McPherson Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm indicating water flow from the facility's sprinkler system. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames on the roof and requested additional support. The fire, which originated from a production line oven, spread to the roof exhaust system. Firefighters managed to control the blaze within 20 minutes, with no injuries reported. The fire was deemed accidental, caused by a malfunction that allowed excessive heat to build up, igniting grease and food debris.
