Indian Ministry Extends ALMM Compliance Deadline for Solar Projects
The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced an extension for net-metering and open-access renewable energy projects, allowing them to be commissioned by December 31, 2026, without complying with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II. This decision provides a temporary exemption from the ALMM List-II compliance, which was initially set to be mandatory from June 1, 2026. The extension aims to ease the transition for solar projects and support domestic solar cell manufacturers by allowing more time to scale up production. The ministry emphasized that this is a one-time extension and not a blanket relaxation of the ALMM requirements.
