Blue Marine Foundation Protects 5.5 Million Square Kilometers of Ocean Globally
The Blue Marine Foundation, established in 2010, has expanded its ocean conservation efforts to protect or manage 5.5 million square kilometers of ocean across 75 active projects in 29 countries. The organization, which originated from a documentary about overfishing, has directly influenced 101 marine protected areas worldwide. Its work spans various regions, including the British Isles, UK Overseas Territories, the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. The foundation employs a multidisciplinary approach, integrating media, technology, journalism, political campaigning, science, and traditional conservation methods to achieve its goals.
