Roblox Implements New Child Protection Rules Banning 'Doomscrolling' for Rewards
Roblox, the popular online gaming platform, is tightening its child protection guidelines by prohibiting games that reward continuous media feed consumption. This new rule specifically targets practices that encourage players, particularly younger ones, to scroll through endless video streams, similar to TikTok's interface, in exchange for in-game advantages. The restrictions apply to games designed for the Roblox Kids category (ages five to eight) and Roblox Select (ages nine to fifteen). A game will be blocked for these age groups if it simultaneously displays a short video, image, or post media feed, incorporates mechanics like autoplay, continuous playback loops, or autoscroll, and includes reward systems that require or suggest continuous viewing.
