Egyptian Agriculture Ministry Denies Exaggerated Dog Population Claims, Emphasizes Long-term Management
Hind al-Sheikh, Director General at the Egyptian Agriculture Ministry, refuted claims of Egypt having 50 million dogs, emphasizing the importance of accurate information. In a recent interview, Sheikh highlighted the protective role of dogs in communities, noting their historical presence since the time of the Pharaohs. The ministry is implementing a national plan to manage stray animals, focusing on vaccination, sterilization, and release to ensure community safety. Sheikh stressed the need for a comprehensive approach, involving coordination with various authorities to address the issue sustainably. The ministry aims to protect citizens while maintaining health and environmental security.
