Nebraska Governor Pillen Signs Executive Order to Combat Antisemitism in Schools
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has signed an executive order aimed at strengthening protections against antisemitism in the state's public schools. The order, issued during Jewish American Heritage Month, integrates the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism into the codes of conduct for students, faculty, and staff. Governor Pillen emphasized the importance of creating safe and respectful learning environments where students can freely express their faith and heritage without fear. The executive order mandates annual reporting of antisemitism incidents by educational institutions to the Governor's Office and encourages the Nebraska Department of Education to provide supplemental materials on Jewish American history, the Holocaust, and the State of Israel.
